Emotion Meets Intelligence: An Adoption Journey Powered by AI

Köpük addresses the pressing issue of stray animal overpopulation in Türkiye. I developed the project’s brand identity, designed the UX flows, and created UI designs to enable citizens to adopt dogs and cats in a humane way.

Estimated at over 5 million dogs and cats nationwide, Türkiye’s 2024 legislation targets over 5 million stray animals, making them available for adoption. Köpük focuses on two adopter personas: solo individuals looking for companionship, or couples seeking the right fit.

In our visual direction workshop, we explored reference apps and emotional tones. The outcome: a warm, friendly look for Köpük that mirrors the trust and connection behind every adoption.

Using AI-driven matching, Köpük helps potential pet parents find the right companion based on lifestyle and compatibility. Köpük also supports adopters post-adoption with expert guidance and breed-specific care tips to ensure pets thrive in their new homes.

To avoid making Köpük feel like a pet marketplace, we designed the app to offer 10 personalized recommendations each week. Users can apply to adopt any of them within that window, creating space for reflection and more meaningful decisions.

Köpük was awarded the Social Impact Award at the Bilkent CS Graduation Fair — recognizing the project’s thoughtful use of AI and design to address real-world adoption challenges in Türkiye.
